The Fito lookout point on the edge of the Sueve Mountains is considered by many as the most beautiful of all viewing points in the region. From this point, and along the whole of the Sueve ridge there are outstanding views of the Picos de Europa and the Asturian coastline.

Separated from the rest of the Cantabrian mountains by the Sella valley the Sueve mountains, developed independently from the Picos. A special race of Celtic pony, the Asturcon, roamed freely in this range fighting for its existence alongside wolves. Prized by many warriors for its adaptability to difficult terrain it was used in missions as far afield as the Alps. These beautiful ponies still roam wild in what is now the protected reserve of the Sueve. In the higher reaches of Sueve and particularly on the northern side there is a large population of fallow deer, unique to the region.

The Sueve mountains and the Fitó lookout point are a 10 minute drive from Hotel Posada del valle.
